About
Studies show that 'Fake News' can be shared and travel six times faster than real news. Knowing how to spot fake news and knowing how to spot whether a website you are using contains reliable information are skills to introduce in Lower Key Stage 2. I like to use it with Year 4. On this page, I have attached links to articles and videos on Newsround that are great for researching fake news as well as some fake news websites, an episode of Kara, Winston and the SMART crew and a link to the Pic Collage page for children to create their own fake news stories. There's also an interactive game to play where you can earn credibility for spreading fake news online, however it is aimed at Key Stage 3. Finally, check out Newswise from The Guardian. They have a fantastic unit of work about understanding, navigating and the reporting of fake news.
